BlogHer17 Conference & More!

Two weeks ago I decided to attend the BlogHer17 Conference event in Orlando Florida. I made this decision several months ago, not completely thinking everything through. First of all, it has been awhile since attending any large conference and a conference where the whole blogging arena is a completely new arena. A lot was going down with me leading up to this. ( I will write more on this later)

Stepping Out of the Comfort Zone

I remember the day I made my reservations, I felt like a fish out of water, again stepping into the unknown. I knew no one at this conference and I am new to the blogging world. The morning of the conference, I had a heart pounding event happen with my 6-year-old lab, Grace, she is fine, but it was a close call. After all of this, I remember feeling and thinking, what the hell am I doing? So my Hag in the Attic found an opportunity and started to play the drums (very loudly I may say) marching down the stairs to attempt the takeover. The Hag takeover of every single flipping reason why I shouldn’t go, especially the one that I need to stay home because if I leave all will fall apart. LOLOLOL, oh dear such a lie. Well, I had a bit of internal work to do before leaving for the airport and you bet I claimed this time for myself.

I am a very social person, but I was entering an event with 2,400 attendees not knowing what to expect and still feeling a bit out of sorts. I was really looking forward to some down time in my room which I took on the evening I arrived and the next morning before the conference kicked-off. I also requested the Universe to place me in front of the people I needed to be in front of and He did just that.

The first day: I was checking out where everything was, the conference was in The Hilton, Bonnet Creek, Orlando, just on the outer rim of Disney, in June. Okay, a lot of people not just for the conference, but Disney! Families traveling.  I was heading over to registration when I met eyes with this woman, so I stopped and introduced myself to Thea Wood, http://theawood.com/ and this was the beginning of a new business relationship and friendship.

 Ask and You Shall Meet!

Thea is originally from Michigan but currently, resides in Austin Texas. The moment she shared with me her businesses over a cocktail, I knew she walked her talked with sincere passion. Thea is a stylist and she helps women “Create a style that says who you are and where you’re going!” Read more: http://theawood.com/ a fairly new venture is she is the publisher for SheSpark Magazine: http://shespark.com/ “A positively ageless style” for women. Ladies, please subscribe, it is a great magazine. Thea and her team caught some quotes for the BlogHer17 event from the outstanding Keynotes: http://shespark.com/memorable-quotes-from-blogher-2017/ Take a look and yes, Chelsea Clinton, Serena Williams, Gabrielle Reece, Cecile Richards, Margaret Cho and so many more dynamic women! The breakouts were around Blogging and Business, however, the keynotes were about Women’s Issues in the World today, Foundations, and the work that these women have stepped up and are making a difference. The tribe is so important!

The whole message of this article is:

  1. Be clear and ask for what you need from The Universe. Crystal Clear!
  2. The Hag is always waiting to bitch up a storm and take over, however, you can manage her!
  3. Step out of the comfort zone, you never know what wonderful things are waiting for you.
  4. No coincidence here…just saying!

I look forward to supporting and collaborating with Thea in the future. Remember, it takes a village to raise a child…

Well, it takes a tribe to uplift and support a women entrepreneur! Call it whatever you like: Tribe, Community, Sisterhood, whatever, but ladies, you need this! And if your Hag is saying anything else here, there is work to do.

Reach out to Thea http://theawood.com/. We all need to stop the intimidation towards each other and support, be courageous, stand for what we believe in and grab your tribe! I am excited to enhance my “tribe” with Thea.

Who knew that my experience in the entertainment and high-tech industries (and six grueling months in legal) would be such an asset as an image consultant? In fact, my past experience working in fast-paced industries means I relate well to women who are looking for that extra edge that our first-impression society demands. For example, as soon as you saw my picture, you started formulating an opinion about me. That’s just life in the modern world.

I work with women to create a visual message that says who they are and where they’re going. We discuss and implement image strategies based on the elements & principles of art, body language, color psychology, and Yin-Yang balancing. The power of this knowledge can change lives– and it’s thrilling to watch women realize their full image potential.

Why did I decide to become an image consultant?   Perhaps my biggest motivation at this point is to help give women the confidence to become an equal force in this world. I want to see more female CEO’s, more female politicians, more female Pulitzer Prize winners, more Oscar-winning female directors, and more female rock bands!!

As a mother, I can appreciate a full-time mom’s style challenges and believe these services are just as helpful to them. Raising the next generation of leaders demands a lot of self-sacrifices and sometimes our personal appearance suffers. It’s important for our families to see us shine so they can shine, too. We all benefit from learning more about our bodies (ever-changing as they are) and smart shopping and wardrobing.
